Apple Seeds is building our 2nd Teaching Farm in Central Arkansas!

We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Arkansas Office of Outdoor Recreation and Arkansas State Parks to establish a Central Arkansas Teaching Farm at Pinnacle Mountain State Park.

Located near the historic Butterfield House, the new Teaching Farm will feature a hands-on learning farm and outdoor teaching kitchen serving thousands of Arkansas students through field trips, after-school programs, summer camps, and community events beginning as early as Fall 2026.

Today, Apple Seeds reaches more than 20,000 students annually across Arkansas, including 4,500 in Central Arkansas. The new Teaching Farm aims to expand that reach to 15,000 students per year by 2029, with students learning to plant, harvest, prepare, and enjoy fresh foods in a natural outdoor setting. The Teaching Farm will also grow food that will be donated to food insecure families increasing access to fresh food.

The project aligns with statewide goals to improve childhood health, strengthen outdoor education, and increase access to healthy food and nature-based learning. We can't wait to share more as this exciting new chapter unfolds.

We are partnering with elementary schools to provide progressive years of nutrition, garden, and culinary education through each year of elementary school experience. Programs include harvesting fresh produce from the garden and learning how to prepare fresh healthy meals and snacks.

This carefully crafted program empowers young minds with practical culinary skills, setting the stage for a lifetime of wholesome eating habits.
